The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School hosted its annual showcase Thursday night, inviting the community to share in what the students have been working on.

Front and center were the seniors, presenting their work from the last two years in the International Baccalaureate program — a prestigious, internationally standardized curriculum that prioritizes student-driven learning, global perspectives and critical thinking.

Adopted five years ago, the charter school’s IB program recently passed its first evaluation by the parent organization, confirming what school director Pete Steedman knew already from students’ success in the program: things are going very well.

“It was nice to have an outside agency validating what we’re doing, and what we’re seeing based on what the students are achieving,” said Mr. Steedman.

Those achievements include what happens in the classroom and recent acceptances to colleges in the US, UK and Ireland.
